I spent my formative years in Zimbabwe and moved to the UK as a teenager. My home is now in Warwickshire where many of my stories are set. I spent nearly three decades teaching the local primary school children and occasionally writing academic articles and short pieces for educational magazines.

I have now left teaching and am able to dedicate as much time (and as much prevarication) to writing as I like. So far, I have concentrated on children’s fiction with supernatural and ecological elements. I am a long-standing believer in the need for a sustainable and just society.

My artwork tends towards the representative – portraits and landscapes in watercolour or oil. The illustrations and cover work for my books are my own.

I am also a gigging musician: I play saxophones and bass in various local bands.
